Functionalization through axial ligand exchange: Remote functional groups were attached onto phosphorus corroles as to allow for their utility in advanced applications.
Multipurpose: A synthetic and electrochemical study of a new conceptual class of corroles enables assessment of how β‐substitution better enables facile light‐assisted C−H activation processes such as the monobromination of phenol. The corroles feature three and four CF3groups and four Br groups. This “hetero‐multifunctionalization” approach results in β‐substitution to help optimize porphyrinoid (photophysical) properties.
